The Flood - COR Chorus and Orchestra

The Flood is a movement inspired from the power and volatile nature of water. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s poem, “Water,” is the text setting for this song with chorus and orchestra. The spirit and breadth of the orchestra combines with the choir to illustrate both the usefulness of water and its destructive force. Mixed meter, complex rhythms, and octatonic scales paint the picture of the water’s unpredictability.
